Obama’s Czars – his Shadow Senate?

On July 9, I posted a list of Obama’s Czars and coyly asked if this was his shadow Cabinet…well.  The list has grown and it seems that Obama is shooting for his own Shadow Senate since we are at 50+ positions.  With the help of Michelle Malkin and Terresa at noisyroom.net, I have amended and added to the list that was posted less than one month ago.  As Michelle Malkin observed, Obama now has more czars than we have had Presidents.

This unprecedented power grab (I mean, can you call it anything else) has even drawn criticism from the longest serving member of Senate and member of Obama’s own party, Robert Byrd (D-WV):

“The rapid and easy accumulation of power by White House staff can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances,” Byrd wrote in a letter to Obama (in February).

“Too often, I have seen these lines of authority and responsibility become tangled and blurred, sometimes purposely, to shield information and to obscure the decision-making process,” Byrd wrote.

Byrd, who carries a copy of the Constitution with him and often cites it in floor speeches, said the czars are not accountable to Congress or to Cabinet officials and rarely testify before congressional committees. He said they often “shield the information and decision-making process behind the assertion of executive privilege” and too often “have been allowed to inhibit openness and transparency, and reduce accountability.”  ( see full article here from NY Times here )

As Senator Byrd points out, these czars are not accountable to anyone except Obama, yet they are making decisions that impact the American people on a daily basis.  Obama has effectively skirted Congress and is building his own power structure to implement his agenda WITH NO OVERSIGHT OR ACCOUNTABILITY.  Also, take into consideration that we are paying the salaries for these people and their offices and whatever staff they require and I am sure it is much more than one assistant.  How is that being worked into the budget or is this part of the job creation that was promised?

All hope may not be lost, a new bill was introduced 7/15/09 by Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) and is being co-sponsored by Rep. John Boozman (R-AR).  The Bill is HR3226 – the Czar Accountability & Reform Act ( see info on bill here ) and the bill is to provide that appropriated funds may not be used to pay for any salaries or expenses of any task force, council, or similar office which is established by or at the direction of the President and headed by an individual who has been inappropriately appointed to such position (on other than an interim basis), without the advice and consent of the Senate.
Now I am not normally a conspiratorial type person.  I really want to trust my government, but this is off the chart alarming.  As we are seven months into the Obama Administration, if Obama continues his czar proliferation at this rate, he will end up with his own Senate of czars.  As the mantra has been going, if you are not outraged, then you are not paying attention!

WTF…this just frightens the hell out of me! He is replacing our Senate with Czars. How can we just sit idly by and watch this president do whatever he feels like? How do we stop him?!?!

    • Antaia says:

Thanks for the comment, Tabatha! I agree – it is very scary! One of the things that we can do is contact your elected officials – send them letters and ask them to support HR3226! I cannot imagine that they are happy about having these Czars running around and circumventing Congress. We also need to keep them in the spotlight – be a watchdog and keep your eye on them and blog and spread info abt what is going on!

    BTW Kim,

The Cybersecurity czar, Melissa Hathaway, just stepped down yesterday.

  3. Kat says:

    Hi!

I just found your great blog today.

Actually, I think he’s replacing the Secretaries. He is above the law. I said this numerous times — this is a coup. He has all his people in place to allow him to iniate his communist agenda.

Lady Libertas — may I copy your czar list for my website? I’ve been trying to locate a list such as yours.

Thank you for the great info here!
    Kat

    • Antaia says:

Hi Kat! Absolutely! Please take it – the only correction is that the Cybersecurity Czar has stepped down…interestingly right before the Internet attack was launched. Did she get integrity?
I believe that he thinks that he is above the law but Americans can remind him that noone is above the law. 🙂
Please post your blog and I will be happy to list it on the blogroll.
      Thanks for the visit!

Thanks Antaia! I’ll get these bad boys & girls posted soon.

    I have a forum: http://www.BiasedMediaBoycott.com

    Stop in some time 😉

Melissa Hathaway is staying until the end of the month, so the WSJ & GCN say:

    Hi Antaia:

I was getting ready to add the list of czars to my forum, but first, can you tell me how sure you are about the unnamed positions? Also, are you willing to release your source? I have looked all over the place — evidently not in the right places — and have only found three.

I am trying to do basic background searches on them — for socialist/commie ties. Our country is in dire trouble!

I don’t know if you’ve looked, but these people are not on the Appointee’s index on WH website. At least not the 3 I have.

    Thank you!
    Kat

    • Antaia says:

Kat – I compiled the list from multiple sources – as well, Michelle Malkin has an excellent list. I am sure that as soon as it went out, the White House will change the game plan. I will email you and pass all of that along! Thanks!

    Antaia,
Kat’s question is a good one because the first seven czars on your list…

Behavioral Science czar – Not Appointed Yet
Income Redistribution czar – Not Appointed Yet
Land use czar – Not Appointed Yet
Radio-Internet Fairness czar – Not Appointed Yet
Voter List czar – Not Appointed Yet
Zoning czar – Not Appointed Yet
Student Loan czar – Not Appointed Yet

    …are fake.

Michelle Malkin and anyone else who have listed those don’t realize that at least a few of the come from a joke article written by Lowell Ponte in Newsmax in November 2008. It begins:

“Looking back from 2016 on eight strange years of President Barack Obama’s administration, we see that it has been nothing like what idealists believed they were electing in 2008.”

    And it ends:
“The Obama years will be remembered in the Ministry of Truth’s official history as the era of 1,000 czars… Thus it has been these past eight years for President Obama’s bailout czar and urban planning czar, his education czar and Latin America czar, his cybersecurity czar and Internet czar, his Afghan-Iraq war czar and income redistribution czar, the voter list czar and radio-Internet fairness czar, and many hundreds more.”

About this last paragraph, notice two things. Ponte lists real czars, which ALREADY EXISTED UNDER BUSH (bailout to Afghan), and fake czars, which he thought would be funny (I mean, come on, “redistribution czar”? Who would fall for that?!?).

So no income redistribution czar, voter list czar, radio-Internet fairness czar.

Also, the last two (autism and mortgage) are just rumors, and you listed weapons czar twice… So now we’re down to 41.

Also there should be only one “economic czar” Paul Volcker, you list two. AND you then list Volcker twice! Down to 39.

Of the 39, at least 10 of them are Senate Confirmed positions, and over half already existed in previous administrations.

Roughly 15 new czars have been created by Obama.

    • Antaia says:

Thank you for your comments and I will be doing a new post that updates where we are at this point. And while you think that some may be humorous – well, I do not put anything past Obama and his Administration.

So, let me address some of your comments which, by the way, are greatly appreciated. I am interested in getting the correct information out.
Please refer to the new post that will be up soon – I am going to include your comment as a basis to update and I hope you will check back and let me know how I did!

  9. Kat says:

I’ll look into this. This is something that is constantly in the back of my mind — as a major project. Other things just take priority. Some of the czar names do sound fake.

However, I’ve read elsewhere about the autism czar with a discussion of who they hoped would not be appointed.

I do not agree about the vetting of these people. Please name your sources.

One thing I do know is that “That One” is not openly disclosing these people. I believe there is only one that is listed on the Appointee page on the WH website.

    • Antaia says:

Kat – check out my new post – I have all sources and links and backup research work done. I think you will find it helpful! THANKS!
